After studying medicine from 1989-1995 at the Ludwig Maximilian University (LMU) in Munich, Florian Wittig trained as a surgeon in Munich, Berlin and in England. He passed his specialist examination in 2003.
In 2000, while still working at the Schwabing Clinic, he specialized in proctology and was awarded the additional title of proctologist in 2005. In 2005 he set up his own practice and since 2009 has been certified as a Competence Center for Proctology by the Professional Association of German Coloproctologists. (BCD) (www.proktologen.de).
Dr. Florian Wittig has had partial training authorization for proctology since 2008, and full authorization for further training (1 year) as a proctologist since 2016 (according to Art. 32, Heilberufe Kammergesetz). In addition, he has 6 months of advanced training authorization for surgery.

- 1998 qualification as emergency physician
- “International Diploma of Mountain Medicine” (DIMM) (German Society for Sports Medicine and Prevention) in 2010
- From 2000 to 2004 he was on the board of the medical development aid organization medihimal e.V. (www.medihimal.org), formerly meditibet e.V.
- Several missions abroad in Asia and cooperation with doctors of Tibetan medicine.
